A Development Consent was granted for the Rye Park Wind Farm on 22 May 2017 (Development consent number SSD 6693) which authorised the development of the Rye Park Wind Farm subject to conditions, and which allowed the construction of up to 92 turbines.
Under the conditions of the Development Consent (specifically Condition 17) the Developer (Rye Park Wind Farm) must enter into a planning agreement with the Planning Authority which includes a community contribution to be held in the Rye Park Community Enhancement Fund and to be used for approved local projects.
Reason for the variation of the Planning Agreement
On 23 April 2020, the Developer made an application to modify the Development Consent to:
- reduce the maximum number of wind turbines from 92 to 77; and
- increase the size of the wind turbines.
As part of the Modification Application, the Developer offered to vary the Planning Agreement to ensure that the original payment of $46,000 is not reduced despite the reduction in turbine numbers.
