Crookwell Pool construction work to continue

Council has worked tirelessly since the announcement of Lloyd Groups voluntary administration to find a suitable contractor to take over the project.

Following successful discussions, the Crookwell Aquatic Facility and Visitor Information Centre project will now continue with FDC Construction and Fitout.

FDC has been engaged by Upper Lachlan Shire Council to begin a four week discovery phase starting this week, with onsite activity ramping up over the coming weeks.

Councils Acting General Manager, Alex Waldron said she was pleased to let the community know that following intense discussions, FDC Construction and Fitout will take over the construction the Crookwell Aquatic Facility and Visitor Information Centre.

“FDC has many years of experience within the construction industry, including a proven track record of delivering community and aquatic facilities so I’m confident in the decision to engage them,” she said.

“We have stressed the urgency and FDC has agreed to start work to re-activate the site as soon as possible. Within the next two weeks, the community will see the area, rebranded and some activity occurring as FDC begins surveying and auditing the site.

Ms Waldron said there was still a lot of preliminary work to be undertaken before major construction works begin but in the next two months, all being well, there will be significant activity on site with the aim of opening the outdoor pool and amenities this summer.

“I stress this is the aim and will likely involve prioritising of works and de-scoping depending upon timeframes and available funding,” she said.

Mayor Pam Kensit said she was heartened by this great news.

“This will be a big task and one that will require the weather, materials and labour availability to be on our side, not to mention available funds, but I remain optimistic,” she said.

“I remain very optimistic,” Mayor Kensit said.

“I have already met with our State and Federal Members to bring this to their attention and will continue to lobby to secure further funding to enable the project to be delivered in its entirety.”
