Summer Reading Club

The Summer Reading Club will be run at Council’s libraries from 1 December 2018 to 31 January 2019. It is a great way to discover authors and encourage reading during the holidays and participation is free.

To register, visit Crookwell or Gunning Libraries in early December to fill in the registration form and pick up your free activity pack.

 

Under the sea school holiday activity @ Crookwell Library  

Create colourful sea creatures in the summer holidays. Add your creation to our mural board.

Creating Dementia Friendly Communities talk 

Come and here Dementia Australia's talk about creating dementia friendly communities for people with dementia. Dementia Australia has developed a business and organisation toolkit to help community groups, organisations or businesses become more dementia-friendly.

Tech Savvy Seniors – Free Computer Classes

Are smart devices a puzzle to you? Do you have difficulties using apps, taking photos, or shopping online on your digital devices? If so, then come along to the free ‘Tech Savvy Seniors’ workshops at Crookwell and Gunning Libraries in February and March.

The classes that will be offered at Crookwell Library will include:

  • Introduction to Smartphones
  • Introduction to Android tablets
  • Introduction to iPad tablets
  • Introduction to online shopping
  • Introduction to social media - part 1
  • Sharing photos and other attachments online.

The classes that will be offered at Gunning Library will include:

  • Introduction to iPads
  • Introduction to Android Tablets
  • Introduction to smart phones
  • Sharing photos and other attachments online
  • Introduction to Email
  • Introduction to social media, part 1

These workshops are available for Library members. If you are not a member, you can join for free at the library. Participants enrolled in the tablet or smart phone workshops will need to bring along their own tablet or smartphone. Bookings are essential by calling the Crookwell Library 4832 1048 or Gunning Library on 4845 1231.

Tech Savvy Seniors is an initiative of the NSW Ageing Strategy and is funded through a partnership between the NSW Government and Telstra, and with the assistance and participation of Upper Lachlan Shire Library Service.

Crookwell Friends of the Library AGM

Join us for the Crookwell Friends of the Library AGM. The AGM will be followed by a morning tea thanking all our library volunteers. Please bring a plate of food to share.

Regular Events

Scrabble at Crookwell Library

Come and join the fun of the Crookwell Library Friends’ monthly Scrabble Afternoons. Scrabble is held in the Crookwell Library every FIRST TUESDAY of the month from 1pm, followed by afternoon tea. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun.

Please bring a gold coin donation for afternoon tea. No bookings are required.

 

 

 

Knitting at Gunning Library

The Gunning Library Knitting Circle is held on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month at 1:30pm. All welcome. No bookings are required.

 

 

Storytime

The themed sessions run for approximately 45 minutes and consist of stories and an age relevant craft activity or creative play. Children from ages 0-5 years are welcome to attend Storytime. Storytime is free and no bookings are required.

Storytime is held at the Crookwell Library every Thursday at 11:30am during the school term.

Storytime is held at the Gunning Library every 1st and 3rd Friday at 10:45am during the school term.

Storytime is not held during school holidays. 

 

Giggle and Wiggle at Gunning Library

Giggle and Wiggle is for babies and toddlers from 1 – 3 years of age, and their parents or carers. At Giggle & Wiggle, we sing songs, share rhymes and play games.

Giggle and Wiggle is held at the Gunning Library at 11am every second and fourth Friday of the month during the school term.

Giggle and Wiggle is not held during school holidays. 

 

Design, build, create, play @ Crookwell Library’s Lego Club

A mix of guided themes and free play sessions  to encourage design, creativity, sharing

and collaboration.

Sessions will run on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-4:30pm during the school term.

For ages 5 years and up.
