Geology of the Gunning/Dalton region talk be John Boddington @ Gunning Library

Join John for a fascinating talk as he discusses the geological processes that formed the rocks in the area, the development of plate tectonics, earthquakes and the history of the mining in the area. Come and hear about the formation of the famous Dalton fossil leaf deposit and why the water in Lake George disappears.

National Simultaneous Storytime

Join in the fun at our libraries as we read the National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) book Alpacas with Maracas, by Matt Cosgrove. National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) to promote the value of reading and literacy. There will be a fun alpaca inspired craft activity after reading the story.

Tech Savvy Seniors – Free Computer Classes

Are smart devices a puzzle to you? Do you have difficulties using apps, taking photos, or shopping online on your digital devices? If so, then come along to the free ‘Tech Savvy Seniors’ workshops at Crookwell and Gunning Libraries.

Crookwell Library:

  • Introduction to social media, 1 – 2:45pm Tuesday 21st May
  • Introduction to online shopping, 9:30 – 11:30am Wednesday 22nd May
  • Sharing photos and other attachments online, 1 – 2:45pm Thursday 23rd May

Gunning Library:

  • Sharing photos and other attachments online, Wednesday 22nd May
  • Introduction to Email, Wednesday 29th May
  • Introduction to social media, Wednesday 5th June

These workshops are available for Library members. If you are not a member, you can join for free at the library. Participants enrolled in the Introduction to online shopping tablet session will need an email account and some previous computer experience; and those doing the Introduction to email will need to have an email account and bring the details along with them to the session. Bookings are essential by calling the Crookwell Library 4832 1048 or Gunning Library on 4845 1231.

Tech Savvy Seniors is an initiative of the NSW Ageing Strategy and is funded through a partnership between the NSW Government and Telstra, and with the assistance and participation of Upper Lachlan Shire Library Service.

Regular Events

Scrabble at Crookwell Library

Come and join the fun of the Crookwell Library Friends’ monthly Scrabble Afternoons. Scrabble is held in the Crookwell Library every FIRST TUESDAY of the month from 1pm, followed by afternoon tea. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun.

Please bring a gold coin donation for afternoon tea. No bookings are required.

 

 

 

Knitting at Gunning Library

The Gunning Library Knitting Circle is held on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month at 1:30pm. All welcome. No bookings are required.

 

 

Storytime

The themed sessions run for approximately 45 minutes and consist of stories and an age relevant craft activity or creative play. Children from ages 0-5 years are welcome to attend Storytime. Storytime is free and no bookings are required.

Storytime is held at the Crookwell Library every Thursday at 11:30am during the school term.

Storytime is held at the Gunning Library every 1st and 3rd Friday at 10:45am during the school term.

Storytime is not held during school holidays. 

 

Giggle and Wiggle at Gunning Library

Giggle and Wiggle is for babies and toddlers from 0 – 3 years of age, and their parents or carers. At Giggle & Wiggle, we sing songs, share rhymes and play games.

Giggle and Wiggle is held at the Gunning Library at 11am every second and fourth Friday of the month during the school term.

Giggle and Wiggle is not held during school holidays. 

 

Design, build, create, play @ the library's Lego Club

A mix of guided themes and free play sessions  to encourage design, creativity, sharing

and collaboration.

Gunning Library, Wednesday afternoons from 3:45 - 4:45pm during the school term.

Crookwell Library, Thursday afternoons from 3:30-4:30pm during the school term.

For ages 5 years and up.
