Closing soon: Shire’s streetscapes survey

With just over one week to go, Upper Lachlan Shire residents are reminded to have their say on the beautification of the Shire’s town centres, via a community survey.

Upper Lachlan Shire Council’s General Manager John Bell said the survey would help inform Council’s project to develop a Streetscape Themes Guide to guide future improvements to the town centres of Crookwell, Gunning, Taralga, Bigga, Binda, Collector, Laggan, Dalton, Grabben Gullen, Tuena, Jerrawa and Breadalbane. Council has engaged Bywong based company Fresh Landscape Design to manage the project.

“The Streetscape Themes Guide will include landscape design principles, which will be used to create greater cohesion throughout the Shire, while allowing the towns and villages to retain their unique charm,” Mr Bell said.

“This project will guide the future look and feel of our towns and villages, so it is essential that we get it right.

“I’d encourage everyone with an interest in this project to complete the survey by Monday, 21 August 2017.”

The survey can be completed online via the following link: www.upperlachlan.nsw.gov.au/council/other-public-documents. Copies of the survey are also available from Council’s offices in Crookwell, Gunning and Taralga and from Crookwell and Gunning Libraries.

To further inform the project, Fresh Landscape Design is holding discussions with key community groups and local representatives across the Shire during August.

The ideas of the Shire’s young people are also being canvassed through the Our Towns – Schools’ Ideas Competition.

The Competition, open to all school-aged children in the Upper Lachlan Shire, is an opportunity for youngsters to share their ideas about how the Shire’s town centres might become more vibrant, fun places.

Schools have been sent information packages with full details of the Competition. Competition entries are open now and will close on Friday, 25 August 2017.
