About the Databases

The list of databases below can be used for your research, study and leisure. Some of these resources can only be accessed in the library while others can be accessed from home and require the use of a Upper Lachlan Shire Library Service library card or a user name and password. The resources which can only be used in the library are marked accordingly.

Environment & Science

GreenFILE is a database focusing on the relationship between human beings and the environment.

A comprehensive research database with science-oriented content. Topics include: biology, chemistry, earth & space science.

 

Family History

Instant access to a wide range of unique resources for genealogical and historical research. In-library access only.

Provides online access to over 50 million records from Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands and Papua New Guinea. In-library access only.

This database contains over 30,000 records of the people who lived and worked in NSW from 1850 to 1920. Note: Some records require an additional paid membership to gain access.

General Reference

Contains articles on medicine, nutrition, diseases, fitness, pregnancy and prescription drugs.

Access valuable information regarding recreational and illicit drugs. This resource is managed by the State Library of NSW and the NSW Department of Health.

History

A full-text history reference database designed for secondary schools and public libraries. Contains historical documents, biographies, historical photos and maps.

Legal Information

Developed by Legal Information and Access Centre at the State Library of NSW, this database provides access to current and easy to understand information about the law in NSW.

Literature

Biographies, bibliographies and critical analyses of more than 12,000 authors from every age and literary discipline.

NoveList Plus provides information on fiction and nonfiction titles, plus information of award-winning books, Book Discussion Guides, BookTalks and Recommended Reads.

Who Else writes like...? is designed to help anyone who enjoys reading fiction to expand the number of writers they read.
